EGGSTRA! EGGSTRA! Easter Decor and Treats.


Easter. A couple of weeks still, but I wanted to share these ideas with you, so you can be ready for when it gets here. I don't go crazy about decorating, I must say. I do, however, love the colours that Easter brings, and incorporating them into my décor. Soft Pinks, light blues, pale greens, warm yellows – love them.


I remember growing up, my parents always made Easter fun. Looking for eggs that the bunny brought, great food around a large, loud table of relatives, and long weekend activities. As a mom, I loved watching my kids in their adorable foot pajamas, with their little baskets looking for eggs too. I remember one Easter when my daughter Leigha, then 3 - got her yellow rubber boots, and my son Nathan then 5- getting his light pale blue jean jacket. At the time, as they said: "That was the best Easter gifts ever!". Great memories.



Easter cupcakes are really fun to make. I found these amazing cupcake holders at Homesense, some festive sprinkles and the traditional mini eggs, so I created these adorable treats.

My recipe for my Vanilla Cupcakes and Buttercream Frosting.

If you are pressed for time, a box of mix from the grocery store works too (I will never tell)

3 cups unbleached all-purpose flour

1 ½ teaspoons baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

12 tablespoons (or 1 ½ stick) unsalted butter, room temperature

1 ½ cups sugar

4 large eggs

2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

1 ¼ cups milk


Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Get cupcake liners ready.


In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. In a large mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time mixing until incorporated, scrape down the side and add in vanilla.


Add flour mixture and milk alternately, beginning and ending with flour. Scrape side and bottom of the bowl.


Divide the batter into the liners. With liners like these, I add less than half of the batter to the liner. Bake until the tops spring back, or toothpick inserted comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Transfer to wire rack and let cool for 5 minutes.


Vanilla Buttercream Frosting

1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

6 to 8 cups of icing sugar

½ cups of milk



Add butter into mixer till creamy.

Add milk

Incorporate icing sugar one cup at a time



You can also use these to hold fun snacks, or treats.

I enjoy simple decorations, especially for the dining table. Placing fresh flowers on my table will always be a must for me, ranging from Tulips, colorful Carnations sometimes Ranunculus. I like to add them into mason jars, that sit inside of my barn board decor box. They look wonderful, unique and very festive for Easter.




For the table settings, I created these adorable little napkins made into bunny ears. A great way to bring smiles on everyone's faces when they sit down for that Easter dinner. They really are adorable, and so easy to do.

I love the Easter long weekend because, to me, it means family. It's when kids are excited with the bunny coming, and our high school and university students are home for a breather. When Uncle Buzz, crazy Aunt Ruth and the rest of your family come for Easter dinner, and you go on a scavenger hunt to find more chairs. After dinner, when your tummies are full, you all go for a walk because it’s spring out, and you need to wear off that ham. Maybe you attend the local Easter service, or maybe you find faith on your own. I know that I, looking around my table, always feel thankful, truly blessed and very lucky to have my family.
