Don’t you love Brunch? It is by far my favorite, and love that it happens most of the time on Sundays.
Did you know that brunch originated in England in the late 19th century and became popular in the United States in the 1930's?

I love the variety of food. It's the selection of items that are for breakfast, sometimes for lunch and always for supper that comes together like a family reunion of foods. The quiche or the waffles? The sausages or the roast beef? The fruit medley or the chocolate croissants?
I also love the decorating of the table, which can be fun and it doesn’t have to be complicated. Pick a theme and go for it. Are you like me and try to keep colours and style in the same scheme as your home? Or, do you venture out and try new themes? Whatever your decision, it is only decorating that lasts a couple of hours, so be free, experiment and be creative. Either way, I am certain you will impress your guest.
A brunch table can be dressed in an informal to formal table setting. It is truly determined by the nature of the brunch, and occasion. I have included a table setting diagram for each scenario so you can easily visualize where to place each plate, napkin, fork, and knife.
My table settings, are usually focused on keeping the colours consistent, with classic patterns, textures, and fabrics. I love incorporating blues against white linens and natural fibers in bamboo place mats. When looking at the composition of your table, arrange the items on the table to create flow and intrigue. Flowers should sit the tallest, then the wine glasses, then the water glasses. Choose linen or cotton napkins that complement your tables cape. I like white myself, as it matches my decor, however, there are so many choices in colors and patterns to go with whatever theme you are seeking.
Here is an example of how I love to decorate my brunch table. Normally this would be a much larger gathering than a 4-person setting, but gives you a wonderful example of how you can dress up a table. Hydrangeas are a must for me for a Sunday brunch. The classic beauty of this crisp white flower is a staple for me in any brunch gathering. I love using vintage, or decorative wine glasses to hold punch or lemonade (sometimes Mimosa's). They add such charm. My favorite part about this setting is the layered patterns for the bowls and plates. The antique elegance, the gorgeous blues, the beautiful floral design.

Preparing delicious meals, and creating memorable settings for family and friends, are some things I love to do. Take everyday meals and do something extraordinary. All on a Sunday. How glorious is that?
